What's right for you?

I offer couples counselling, short-term psychotherapy, counselling and long-term psychotherapy. The approach we take is chosen during an up-front assessment session, so that we can see what your needs are and which option is the most suitable. Read through the info below to get a better idea of what might suit you.

Short-Term Psychotherapy

Short-term psychotherapy provides an effective but time-limited (and cost-effective) option to improve your relationships and the way you live your life. This type of therapy gives you the opportunity to uncover and work with issues that are holding you back in an intensive manner. It focuses on understanding yourself and your relationships in order to help you to move forward with your life.

Over 16 sessions, you will work together with your therapist in a no-holds-barred approach to really understanding and working through your difficulties. This approach is very direct, and intense. It is not suitable for all clients, and you will need to attend an assessment session to see if this approach is right for you.

Expected timeframe: 16 - 20 sessions

Couples Counselling

Couples Counselling focuses on improving the relationship bond between partners. Both partners attend sessions together, and work through common relationship patterns while learning to communicate their needs to each other.

Couples Counselling is appropriate if you and your partner want to work together towards creating change in your relationship.

Expected timeframe: 8 - 20 sessions

Brief Counselling

Counselling involves talking through your current difficulties in a supportive environment. Counselling will help you to understand your emotions and why you’re feeling them, as well as support you in the course of action you choose.

Counselling is suitable if you are currently experiencing a difficulty that is fairly new to you, or you are dealing with a change in your life circumstances, such as a relationship break up, move, or are coping with a loss.

Expected timeframe: 2 - 8 sessions

Long-Term Psychotherapy

Long-term psychotherapy is suitable for you if you would like to gain an in-depth understanding of yourself and your relationships, but at a more gentle pace than is found in short-term psychotherapy.

It is suitable for certain types of issues, such as eating disorders, that may not be appropriate for short-term psychotherapy.

Expected timeframe: 6 months +
